The new iPhones were unveiled on Tuesday (10), the new releases from Apple feature the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, many expected a name similar to the old ones, such as the successor to the iPhone XR being called iPhone 11r, but what Apple did was simply call it iPhone 11, which features iOS 13, a notched screen and other new features.
Meet Apple's new launch: iPhone 11
Following its annual tradition, Apple has announced three new smartphones. The devices hit the market on September 20, but are already available on pre-order as of this Friday, the 13th.
The starting price for the iPhone 11 is 699 dollars. The iPhone 11 Pro comes in at 999 dollars and the iPhone 11 Pro Max at 1099 dollars. We still don't have any information about sales of these three models in Brazil.
What's new in the iPhone 11:
- 6.1-inch screen and comes with a notch on the front, for the Face ID sensors. (Same screen as the previous version)
- Screen resolution: 1792 x 828 pixels
- Screen panel: LCD
- Main camera: dual, 12 megapixels
- Front camera (selfie): 12 megapixels
- System: iOS 13
- Processor: Apple A13 Bionic
- Colors: black, green, yellow, lilac, red and white
- Launch price: from US$ 699 (about R$ 2,855 in direct conversion)
Design
The design has changed a lot on the back of the iPhones, which confirms the rumors that circulated before the official announcement. The change was made to fit the third lens on the "Pro" models and accommodate a sensor on the traditional version. As a result, a square in the top left-hand corner now houses all the cameras and the flash. The iPhone 11 will be available in six colors: purple, green, black, white, gold and red. The iPhones 11 Pro and Pro Max will come in four colors: green, gray, silver and gold.
Is the iPhone resistant or waterproof? o iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max have been rated IP68 according to IEC 60529 (maximum depth of four meters for up to 30 minutes); and the iPhone 11 has been rated IP68 according to IEC 60529 (maximum depth of two meters for up to 30 minutes).
Camera
The iPhone 11 still only has two cameras, but if we take into account that it is the new version of the iPhone XR, which only had one lens, this is an interesting upgrade. The two lenses work with a resolution of 12 Megapixels each. The "extra" lens, a wide-angle one, has the function of widening the angle of view.
The triple camera set of the "Pro" models consists of a 12 MP main lens, a 12 MP wide-angle lens, and a 12 MP telephoto lens, the same resolutions seen in the Galaxy S10 family - with the exception of the wide-angle lens of the S10+ version, which is 16 MP.
The devices also have a night mode to improve photos taken in low-light environments, as well as a better flash and better video quality. The front camera will be able to film in 4K and produce slow motion images (at 120 frames per second).
Screen
The iPhones kept their average screen size. The devices kept the cut-out at the top of the screen to accommodate the camera.
- iPhone 11 - 6.1 inches
- iPhone 11 Pro - 5.8 inches
- iPhone 11 Pro Max - 6.5 inches
Processor
The new devices come equipped with the A13 Bionic processor, which has been redesigned to speed up processes that rely on artificial intelligence such as Deep Fusion and to use less energy. That doesn't mean it's less powerful, as it can perform 1 trillion operations per second and has 8.5 billion transistors.
Battery
All three devices have seen an improvement in battery life, which will also be more efficient thanks to the processor. Apple's promise is that the battery will last much longer compared to the iPhone XS: the autonomy of the iPhone 11 will be one hour longer; that of the iPhone 11 Pro, 4 hours longer, and that of the iPhone 11 Pro Max, 5 hours longer. The company doesn't usually disclose battery specifications in milliampere-hours (mAh).
How much does the new iPhone cost?
The new devices arrive at practically the same prices as last year's launches:
- iPhone 11 - US$ 699
- iPhone 11 Pro - US$ 999
- iPhone 11 Pro Max - US$ 1,099
