The WABetaInfo website recently revealed that WhatsApp will add a feature in the next updates that will add a lock so that it can only be accessed through the fingerprint.
WhatsApp has finally started working on the Authentication feature on Android, using your fingerprint! Let us explain how it will work. WhatsApp is currently working on a new section in its application, where the user will be able to activate the fingerprint feature.
It works exactly the same on iOS (it will be available on iOS in the future too): by enabling the Fingerprint feature, the app will be completely protected, so the user will need to authenticate their identity to open WhatsApp. It will protect the entire app, so it is not used to lock specific conversations.
As you can see in this screenshot, it is also possible to use your device credentials if WhatsApp is unable to detect your fingerprint. This feature is currently in development and will be available in the future for any Android user who has Android Marshmallow (and newer) and a fingerprint sensor.
